Painting
The “Old Wound” exhibition by Prateep Suthathongthai is another development of an artist who is interested in historical evidence through documents, publications, as well as telling stories. These are one of the key channels that allow us to access historical data. Direct copying of the painting signifies a different meaning than reproduction, especially when talking about “becoming” a work of art by transferring the physical object to another language system. Prateep let the painting speak of its essential role as a medium by drawing things straight into pictures. As if his painting was a deliberation process, conveyed without prejudice or emotion or even showing signs of craftsmanship to suppress the "manifestation" of anything that is not involved in this simulation of the object.
